2013 Australian Small Business Champion Awards

Chill from Brookvale, Northern Beaches, Sydney has been named Champion Specialised Small Business at the Australian Small Business Gala Dinner & Awards Ceremony held on Saturday 13th April at The Westin Sydney with approximately 900 guests in attendance.

The Australian Small Business Champion Awards is the only national program of its kind to recognise the achievements and performances of small businesses.

The program aims to encourage excellence and drive businesses to success. “The Small Business Champion Awards is a way to give back to the backbone of the Australian economy”, said Steve Loe, Managing Director of Precedent Productions and founder of the awards. “Every business that entered displayed passion, innovation and entrepreneurial spirit, and in my eyes, every Australian small business is a winner in their own right,” said Mr Loe.

39 small business categories, including two entrepreneur categories and one business growth category, were presented on the night.”We were absolutely thrilled to win the Australian Small Business Champion Award” said Andrew Wade, co owner of Chill with his sister Lauren Wade. “This win is not only a win for Chill. Its a win for our entire team. It echoes our ethics, our mantra & our values. This win is about team work, having fun but not taking ourselves too seriously,” said Andrew.

Award recipients demonstrated the strength of the Australian small business community during challenging economic times. Each Champion business was presented with an award statuette, certificate and gained national recognition. “We are very fortunate, considering the current economic climate, said Lauren Wade. “The cornerstone to our success was born from taking risks in unchartered territory, embracing change & not being afraid to make mistakes, even in challenging times.” said Lauren.

Small businesses from across Australia delivered an impressive array of entries, with winners representing a broad range of industries from all states and territories.

Special guests for the evening included the Australian Commissioner of Small Business, Mark Brennan; NSW Minister for Small Business, The Hon. Katrina Hodgkinson MP; Parliamentary Secretary for Small Business and Fair Competition, Senator Scott Ryan; and the NSW Opposition Leader, John Robertson & Gretel Killeen as the Master of Ceremonies.
